Our Team

We have a Board and Executive Team together with their central office staff. They are here to support all our GP practices, cutting down on local admin and applying best practice throughout Our Health Partnership.

The Board

Our Health Partnership is led by committed and experienced GPs and healthcare specialists. They share a passion for outstanding primary services and a deep practical knowledge of community healthcare.

The board is made up of nine elected GP partners and two officers (an Operations Director and Finance Director). The board is supported by a non–executive adviser. The Board is responsible for the central functions of Our Health Partnership, including accounting, HR, finance and CQC registration. It also investigates and shares best practice and innovation, provides a strong voice for the collective locally and nationally, manages our partnerships and is in constant communication with all our GP practices to support their individual needs.

Dr Vish Ratnasuriya MBE – Chair

Like many local GP’s, I graduated and trained in Birmingham and have continued to serve our local population. As a GP partner at Lordswood House Medical Practice in Harborne, I enjoy the variety that General Practice has to offer, from teaching medical students to looking after a nursing home and doing baby clinics. I particularly value the continuity of care for patients that a personal list system offers.

I have a special interest in Sports and Exercise Medicine, and was team doctor for Solihull Moors football club for 10 seasons. I was clinical contracting lead for the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and musculoskeletal medicine across Birmingham for CrossCity CCG for over 5 years. I have jointly led the formation of the Alliance of GP providers in the BSOL STP, and I am also the RCGP Regional Ambassador for the Birmingham and Solihull, and Coventry and Warwickshire STPs.

Outside medicine I enjoy rock climbing, cricket, DIY, and playing the guitar, all whilst retaining a balance with family life, and I particularly enjoy doing the school run a few mornings a week

To me, OHP’s unique model allows GPs and practices to retain the best of diversity in general practice that has evolved to serve our different communities require, whilst the scale provides the platform to provide influence within the health system, to create efficiencies and most of all to make life better for patients and practices.

Dr Philip Saunders – Vice Chair

Having grown up in Guernsey, I qualified in Birmingham in 1991 and have worked here as a GP ever since. My practice is Ridgacre House Surgery in Quinton, which was awarded an Outstanding rating by CQC in 2016, with a sister practice in Nechells. I owe much of my career progression to a valued team of colleagues that have supported me for the last 20 years.

I am the Clinical Director for a successful local provider group, Northfield Alliance Ltd. I work with Dr Dawlatly as the co-clinical director of QCAPS, a pilot referral quality improvement scheme.

In the changing world of our NHS, I see Our Health Partnership providing stability and opportunity for patients and staff as large scale healthcare comes our way. The way we work allows practices to maintain their personality, something that we value as well as our patients.

Outside work, I am the proud father of 2 grown up children who are not following in my professional footsteps! I try and keep fit by playing anything with a racket with friends and colleagues, which has kept me happy and opened many doors over the years!

Dr Rahul Dubb

After qualifying at Nottingham University, I undertook my GP training in Birmingham. I now work in Sutton Coldfield, and having been born and schooled here, I strive to give quality general practice back to the community.

I have various interests in medical practice including diabetes care, teaching Birmingham University first year medical students and trainee GPs. I am the commissioning lead for the practice and I have particularly enjoyed leading collaborative work with local Sutton Coldfield practices and Good Hope Hospital, with the aim of providing better quality and breadth of services to patients in the community.

As the finance lead for Our Health Partnership, I have a stronger than ever appreciation of the challenges that general practice faces across the wider NHS footprint. I believe I contribute a strategic view, helping our network of GP practices to be sustainable and resilient.

Outside of medicine, I love to spend time with my family. I enjoy playing five-a-side football and cricket. I’d also like to think I can strum my guitar!

Dr Bavna Kallan

I have been a full-time partner in general practice for the last 13 years and am currently at The Dove Medical Practice, Erdington. I am Clinical Lead in Diabetes and Safeguarding Lead in the practice. I am also a trainer and teach final year medical students.

I strongly believe that Our Health Partnership is a fair, equal and supportive organisation that will lead the way to influence positive change in general practice and improve patient care. I am delighted to be on the Board for OHP, bringing my energy and enthusiasm to help create a dynamic, innovative and caring organisation.

I came to the UK in 1997 – I was born in South Africa and completed Medical School in Johannesburg. I am happily married and blessed with two beautiful children. I enjoy outdoor fitness including running and regular boot camp sessions.

Dr Jennie Bailey

I trained at the University of Wales College of Medicine, qualifying in 1988. After working in North and West Wales I settled in Shrewsbury. Having joined Much Wenlock and Cressage Medical Practice in 1995 I am now a full-time GP Principal and Senior Partner.

I have always really enjoyed the clinical side of general practice and additionally have been involved in clinical governance both at practice level and in the South Shropshire Locality. I am a GP with Special Interest in ENT working at Bridgnorth Community Hospital. Currently I am working together with Shropshire Community Health Trust, Shropshire CCG and Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust ENT & Audiology departments on a project to redesign the ENT service. These experiences will be valuable in my role as an OHP board member and I believe that by working together we can increase sustainability and develop our practices in new and exciting directions.

I enjoy teaching and our practice has a long history of training GP registrars, FY2s and also medical students from Keele Medical school.

I like travelling and over the last few years I have volunteered in Nepal with a charity; teaching and mentoring health workers in remote communities. I spend my spare time cycling, sailing, walking and gardening.

Dr Priya George

I have been a GP for 11 years and a GP partner for the last 5 years, initially working in Staffordshire and then moved to a Shropshire practice closer to home. I am currently a partner at Drayton Medical Practice where we look after 17,500 patients. My clinical areas of interests are Diabetes and Women’s Health. I am a GP Tutor for Keele Medical school and a Trainer for West Midlands Deanery. My training roles have helped me to develop empathy and provide pastoral care for the upcoming doctors who are our future. It has also encouraged reflective practice and made me think outside the box.

I am on the Local Medical Committee since 2014. In this role, I have had the opportunity to understand the various challenges facing the NHS and being involved in decision making and supporting the GP workforce. I am a GP Appraiser in Shropshire and Staffordshire and this role has given me the opportunity to meet other GPs in the region and understand the concerns raised at grassroot levels.

Apart from medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am married to a Consultant Radiologist and we are blessed with two lovely boys 15 and 9 years old who are my pride and joy. I am a keen music enthusiast and singing is my passion. I also enjoy going for long walks and off-road cycling.

I am looking forward to working together with the other OHP practices, gaining knowledge and expertise from one area and sharing with another. I am passionate about forward thinking and innovative ways of practice and it would be my privilege to work with OHP for achieving sustainable and high-quality workforce. I believe as a strong team and having one voice, we can stand united against the unprecedented financial and workload stress that general practice is currently facing.

Dr Alex Meyer

I trained at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, and qualified in 2001. I moved to the Midlands in 2007 and have been a Partner at Yardley Wood Health Centre since 2008. My interests include Anti-Coagulation and Minor Surgery, as well as teaching medical students from the University of Birmingham. I have worked closely with the CCG, I was an LCN Chair for the Hall Green locality of CROSSCITY CCG and then ACE Excellence Clinical Lead.

In the new BSOL CCG I am the Network Chair for Hall Green. As such I have championed the cause of local GP practices. I believe that we are stronger together then the sum of our parts, and that we need to collaborate to bring about improvements in our working lives and improvements in patient care.
